Amy Winehouse (1983-2011)

We at dHb have always had a special place in our (digital) hearts for Amy Winehouse.

In 2009 when Dujon dropped “19 Steps to Success”, the only song NOT produced by DigitalHeart Beats was from an Amy Winehouse record called “Love is a Losing Game”, which became “How Could I Ever Love Again”, a touching ode to the rapper’s mom, who had recently passed away.

In early 2011, when we signed 16-year-old Angel Machado, what won us over (among other things) was her one-take recording of Amy’s “You Know I’m No Good”.

If it wasn’t for Amy and her powerful, soulful songs, these things would not have been possible, and for this, we thank you.

She was an amazing talent and a troubled soul. Her music will live on forever.

Aaaaaaaaand we’re back.

Apologies for the week-long hiatus. In the meantime, we’ve been grindin. Check out these behind the scenes shots from a recent Angel Machado photoshoot. Do not get it twisted: this young woman is the future.

Never thought we’d hear Eminem on a Bangladesh beat. This is ill.

This song hits close to home – the vibe – the beat – the lyrics – EVERYTHING. This song is special for many reasons but there is one story worth sharing…
